Stay Grounded During the Holidays: Energy Medicine Techniques for Calm

The energy of the holiday season—with its busy schedules and high expectations—can pull us out of alignment. As a gift to yourself this season, here are four simple Energy Medicine techniques you can use anytime, anywhere, to help calm your nervous system and stay centered.

The Four Thumps for Grounding, Clarity, and Vitality

This set of four quick thumps is an essential technique for kickstarting and balancing major energy systems. It helps bring a feeling of grounded stability, clear thinking, and physical vitality, making it perfect for combating holiday stress.

1. ST2 (The Grounding Thump):

    • Technique: Locate the bony ridge just below your eyes, on the cheekbone. Move your fingers down into the soft tissue directly below the ridge. Lightly tap or gently massage this point on both sides for 30 seconds.
    • Benefit: This point helps to settle the Stomach meridian, which is responsible for feeling nourished, centered, and safe. Tapping here immediately helps calm frantic thinking and ground your energy when you feel anxious or scattered. This is a secondary point for grounding.

2. K27 Point:

    • Technique: Place two fingers in the soft indentations just under your collarbones, where they meet the breastbone. Tap or massage firmly for about 30 seconds while taking slow, deep breaths.
    • Benefit: This energizes all of your energy centers, which governs the overall flow of energy, bringing a quick boost of clarity and focus. This point is outstanding for grounding yourself.

3. Thymus Gland:

    • Technique: Move your two fingers to the center of your chest (the sternum). Gently thump this area for 30 seconds.
    • Benefit: This point boosts your immune system and brings courage and joy, helping to dispel feelings of heaviness or low energy. This also brings additional energy to your Heart and Lungs.

4. Spleen Points (Metabolizing Stress):

    • Technique: Place your hands on the sides of your body, about four inches below your armpits, on the soft tissue above your lower ribs. Firmly massage or tap this area for 30 seconds. (these points might feel sore or tender.)
    • Benefit: This helps your Spleen Meridian metabolize stress, worry, and food more effectively, creating an immediate feeling of being settled and energized.

Doing the Four Thumps daily will strengthen your energy systems and create more balance in your life.

Namaste,

Lizz
